Pet Shenanigans Co. was built on love — the kind of love only a pet can give.

Then you already understand what inspired Pet Shenanigans Co. 

For me, that inspiration had a name: Toku.

I adopted Toku in 2017, and before long, it was just the two of us taking on life together. She wasn’t just a pet — she was my constant companion, my work-from-home coworker, my walking partner, and my best friend. She was the first face I saw every morning and the last one I saw each night.

Toku had a way of turning ordinary routines into meaningful rituals. She loved her walks so much that she would wander over to the closet throughout the day, silently encouraging me to grab her orange harness and leash so we could head outside. (Imagine the looks I got routinely from walking my cat, right?! But she loved it!) And no matter how many times I left the house, she greeted me at the door with the same excitement every single time.

And mornings? Those were ours.

Breakfast in bed became our quiet tradition — a small pause before the day began. I’d settle in with my latte, kombucha, pistachios, goji berries, a protein drink, and yes… a couple of Milano cookies — while an episode of Seinfeld played in the background. Right beside me was Toku, perfectly content just being there.

It wasn’t extravagant. It was simply life — shared with a loyal friend who made every day better just by being in it.

Then one evening, after returning home from dinner with friends, something felt different. The usual greeting never came. Toku had passed unexpectedly at just seven years old.

The loss was — and still is — profound. Anyone who has loved a pet deeply knows that they are never “just an animal.” They are irreplaceable, unique personalities. They are family, companionship, comfort, and unwavering presence wrapped into one beautiful soul. And when they’re gone, the silence they leave behind can feel enormous.

In the midst of that grief, I searched for a way to keep our connection close — something that honored what we shared without letting the sadness define it. So I created a coffee mug with Toku’s photo on it, allowing our morning tradition to live on in a new way.

It made me realize something important:

The love we have for our pets doesn’t end.

No--It evolves.

That realization became the heartbeat of Pet Shenanigans Co.

Pet Shenanigans Co. exists to celebrate the joy, humor, loyalty, and unforgettable personalities that pets bring into our lives.
