Introducing...
Some pets leave paw prints on our hearts forever. I have been very blessed to have a heart heavily imprinted with those paw prints from many, many pets over the years. One such pet was Toku — a loyal companion, co-worker, and daily dose of smiles and joy. Toku inspired me with every step.
You see--I had been the human in several multi-pet families in my life. But when Toku was adopted on November 4th of 2017, she was it. She was the show. She loved that. And I realized very quickly that I did too.
Who Toku Was
Adopted from Friends of Feral Felines, Toku quickly became more than a pet — she was family. From morning rituals to afternoon walks, she was by my side for nearly every moment.
She had her own little habits: wandering to the closet multiple times a day for a reminder that it was time for her an outdoor jaunt in her orange harness (and yes, walking the family cat did get me more than a few looks and chuckles)...providing an excited greeting at the door every time I returned home...and sitting patiently beside me during breakfast in bed, accompanied by kombucha, goji berries, pistachios, a protein drink, and a couple of Milano cookies. Mornings were our sacred time together, often paired with an episode of Seinfeld.
The Bond...
Toku wasn’t just cute or playful — she was a constant source of companionship, love, and laughter. Then, one night I returned home from dinner and something was amiss. There was no familiar greeting. My baby girl was gone. Our shared bond made her passing at just seven years old especially devastating.
Her loss left a hole that only those who have loved a pet deeply can truly understand. If you're a pet parent--well, you get it. Most don't. That gaping hole in your heart is never fixed with an 'are you going to another one?' No--I would say, because you can't get another Toku...or Cappy or Friskie or Sasha or Tabby or Neyland or Bocce or Molly. I could go on. But no...such unique and irreplaceable personalities deserve to be celebrated.
How Pet Shenanigans Began
That sense of celebration is how it all began. In the wake of that loss, I wanted to honor Toku while keeping at least one of our traditions alive. I created a coffee mug with her photo, allowing us to continue our morning ritual in a new way.
From that small act, the idea for Pet Shenanigans Co. was born: a brand that helps other pet parents celebrate their furry companions — when they are with us and long after. Celebrating them with humor, sentiment, and thoughtful products like mugs, puzzles, and personalized canvas art.
Our Mission Today
Pet Shenanigans Co. exists to celebrate the joy, chaos, and love pets bring into our lives. They are gifts truly meant to put a smile on every recipient's face. That smile is our 'why'. It is why we do what we do at Pet Shenanigans Co.
Each product is designed to honor the pets who make life brighter — whether it’s through laughter, memory, or keepsakes that last a lifetime.
Celebrate your own furry friend with our collection of personalized mugs, canvas art, and playful puzzles — because the story of life with pets is messy, magical, and unforgettable.
